Incidence of coronary artery disease (CAD) has been on rise since last few decades due to change in the lifestyle and eating habits of people during this period. People love to visit fast food restaurants and eat oil rich foods which lead to variety of heart diseases. Although there are many pharmacological treatments available to counter coronary heart diseases but apart from medical therapy, other factors also influence the disease progress such as starting regular exercise, switching to a healthy diet and regular morning walk. But here is something new, which was previously unknown to us. Some medical health researchers in America have carried out a study to see the role of Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA) in the coronary artery disease progress. These doctors carried out their research upon patients from heart issues. All these patients were diagnosed through CCTA. These patients were divided into three groups on the basis of obstructive CAD group, non obstructive CAD group and those who were not having any coronary artery disease. Edward Hulten, who was the head of the research team found that after CCTA scan, followed by increasing the dose of lipid lowering agents and Aspirin, led to a significant decrease in low density lipoproteins (LDL) among these patients thus protecting them against the risks of myocardial infarction and other heart diseases.
In order to see a positive result outcome among the patients after CCTA scan, it is necessary that all the basic changes in the therapies should be done according to the disease progression and the patient should always be told about the possible side effects that might occur because of changing the dose and treatment options.
